Brooks’s Fabric

On Main Street in Bountiful, Utah there is more than one store still here that was around when I was growing up. Brooks’s Fabrics is exactly the same as it was when I was a child and visited often with my grandmother. I am grateful it is still in business and allows me a bit of nostalgia. Today I bought these fabrics for a project in Australia.

It’s Official

Rick’s retirement was announced at Showa Shell and Shell today. Now, we wind up our time in Japan and prepare to move back to Texas. I am so grateful for him and for the many wonderful blessings that have come to our lives because of his work at Shell.

In the Air Again

I am so grateful that I am blessed to be able to travel and be with my family for important events. I am going to Utah to visit my sister and my niece and her family. Then on to Dallas to be with Leigh, Rorey and John. Then to Houston and College Station for to be at John’s big events. Finally, I’ll spend at little time with my children and grandchildren in Kingwood before going back to Tokyo to prepare for our move.

The violinist

Recently, my responsibility at church has been music chairman. I have been arranging musical numbers on two Sundays a month. I was really looking forward to church today. I had arranged for a young violinist to play. She had an amazing accompanist and they played one of my favorite hymns-A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief. I love listening to stringed instruments. It was wonderful.

I began playing the violin as a third grader and loved it. I continued until I was in seventh grade and then for reasons I don’t remember I asked my mother if I could quit and she said yes. When I see someone with talent like Scarlett has I am so sorry that I quit. I am so grateful for talented people who are willing to share
